Halloween is upon us!

To get my groove back after my hand injury I asked on of my favourite humans for something to draw and she asked for Tate Langdon from American Horror Story which  turns out is a great show. I am actually watching it right now as I type this. Here is the art piece:
Really fun the draw but also hard so hopefully my groove has been found!

Now do you have plans for Halloween? The biggest night of the year. Where the freaks are norms and the norms get to be the freaks they wish the could be for the other 364 days of the year. You don't? Well get your beautifully freaky self on down to Minchinbury, NSW for AWF Halloween wrestling! I hear some guy who looks a little bit like me travelled forward in time from the glorious 1980s just to be in attendance ;)

The Haimister always Haims to please so come and watch me him in his first ever match! You also DO NOT want to miss Alex Titan vs Dean Draven in a dog collar chain match! That one will be off the charts.

What's Shakin'

Alright my good peeps out there in Internet land my hand is now healed and I can draw again! Score! I have started an American Horror Story piece and yes here is a sneak peekie:
Pic was taken on my phone so a little crappy in quality but it's only a peekie.

Road House Blues

Been way too long since I posted anything and seeing as I am about to get back into drawing with my hand being almost healed I thought i'd share a few paintings from a project that most likely wont be finished. It is so hard to go back and finish something that you haven't done any work on for months. The plan was to do a tribute to the 80s classic 'Road House'. I am still pretty happy with the Sam Elliot and the Marshall R. Teague is close to being finished as well. The Swayze was getting there but isn't as finished as the other 2. I have a half finished Double Deuce bar and a Kelly Lynch that needed more work but i'm not sharing them so forget I even mentioned them ok? good. Now check 'em out:

"Be nice until it's time to not be nice" If you havn't seen Road House the time to not be nice is now and you should go find your sorry self a copy and watch it! ...........Then watch it again.

Andrew McMahon Art

I was commissioned to do a painting of singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon. About 80% into the drawing I broke my finger :( so I am not entirely happy with it BUT my sister was happy with it and also the man himself loved it. Yes Andrew McMahon himself was given the artwork and signed another print and was very complimentary of it. Awesome!
Pictures below show the art and the Andrew with the art. Enjoy!

I've been enjoying this years G1 Climax so much I had to do a quick painting of my pick to win it Tetsuya Naito! He has been killing it since joining LOS INGOBERNABLES. His match with Tanahashi is a must watch and his twitter is a must follow.

Will have to do another one when time permits.

Hannibal: A Year Later

Almost a year ago to the day I drew Will Graham from the TV show Hannibal and as luck would have it I was commissioned by a wonderful person to draw Hannibal. I really enjoyed doing this one and am very happy with the outcome. Check it out.

My cintiq companion is still flawless! One of the best purchases I've made.EVER. So if you are wondering if you want to drop the dollary-doos and get one I can not recommend them enough.

Be afraid. Be very afraid

After a successful weekend selling works at the Supanova convention I have decided to take my 2D a little more seriously for next time. The first piece I have done after Supanova is Wednesday Addams. The Addams Family movies were favourites growing up and Wednesday is every bit as relatable today as she was when the movies came out.

Be One of Us!

"Now you know what we are, now you know what you are. You'll never grow old, Michael, and you'll never die. But you must feed!"

The Lost Boys is one of my favourite movies of all time, easily in the top three, and possibly the movie I have watched the most times in my life. It was only natural I painted some Lost Boys art right? Here is my piece of David played perfectly by Keifer Sutherland.
I will have prints of these available at the Sydney Supanova convention this weekend (19th-21st June). Come check 'em out and give me money. If you want an A3 print I can do them for $10 Australian dollary-doos + what ever the postage to you will cost just shoot me an e-mail and we can figure it out.

While you are at Supanova check out the AWF Wrestling events held in the centre at 12, 2 and 4. You will have a rocking time and if you don't? well then you must hate quality entertainment. For more details check out AWFWrestling.com.au !

Speaking of quality entertainment, So you are in Sydney on Saturday and you are leaving Supanova but you just want more! Who doesn't want more? Well you are in luck! Within viewing distance of Supanova is the giant enormo-dome that is ANZ stadium where at 6:30pm on Saturday the 20th Dreamer's Crime will be rocking every face in the stadium off before the Bulldogs vs Panthers match. I'm a Roosters fan and i'm going so trust me these guys will be worth it! Click here for the Facebook Event page! Don't believe me? Check them out on Spotify and never doubt me again punk.

Improvement

I know my blog has turned from a happy, fun time into a pit of despair over the passed year and I am trying to rejuvenate myself to write like I used to write. This is will probably not be one of those funny, good time posts though so be warned. Although it will have a positive twist at the end.

Have you ever had a really good day or week just to come crashing back to reality and feeling depressed and hopeless? You want those good times to roll on your entire life but they don't. No matter how hard you try to carry on with the mind numbing chore of day-to-day living sometimes you just feel as though there is no point. I've been having those feelings which I haven't had this bad since my early 20s (I am no where near as bad as i was but I also didn't use an outlet for what I was going through so kinda hoping this blog helps even if no one reads it).The feeling that even though there are some good times they are too few and there is no way to make sure these good times stick around everyday. It makes me want to stay in bed all day and wait for time to go on by. My motivation drops to zero and I just don't care about things I should care about (Like myself).

This is my blog and I will write these thoughts if I want to. Am I forcing you to read them? No! So if you are one of those holier than thou types who think people should "be more like them" please move along. You are not wanted here (Unless you want to buy a print or order a custom picture or something? in that case E-mail me *wink*). My school work is definitely suffering though. I find the ego-driven nature of it to be unbearable at times to the point I'd just like to quit even though I can see the finish line. I really want to start work on my own film idea I have had for years and see if I can make something come from it but I know there is course work to be done first.

I HATE Wednesdays. Hate them. 9 hour class days, takes 2 hours to get there, 2+ hours to get home, add the fact that it is freezing right now and the whole day is acting like we are at a 'Job' working on someone else's project. From 9am till 6pm pretending we are working for a fake company on a short film. Harsh criticisms and constant changing of minds on what is wanted. Reminding you how badly you have missed a deadline for something you have never made before and how you would have been fired or demoted. How can they expect you to work like you care when you are losing money by doing the job? Not only are we paying to be there we are also paying to travel there and they are expecting you to take it seriously like you would a real job? You get what you pay for! Now I journeyed into the world of 3D to create cartoons. My own, a group effort or a cartoon show. Never did I want to work on a crappy superhero. movie. I think I'd rather jump in front of a bus than work on Avengers 17. If it was the Avengers 17: Back to the 80s then yes i could work on that movie and I'd have a passion for it (Especially if Prince was in it and he slapped all the Avengers down, That would be sweet) but if it wasn't back to the 80s I most likely wouldn't even apply for the job. I got into this thing to maybe have a job I loved to go to, if I hate it what is the point? If I was to have a job I hated I would at least want it to be a meaningful job. Seriously they act like missing a deadline, getting a quad out of place or a file named incorrectly is a life and death situation. Calm down! Most movies made these days are totally meaningless and advertisements are even more meaningless so stop acting like it's a heart transplant. Man I don't know? How did the world come to this? Money is everything? Money shouldn't even exist.

OK! I think I need to get tot the POSITIVE aspect of my post. Let me take you back to when I was 17. I was taking Visual Design which was my favourite class and one lesson I had a conversation with a friend which kind of stuck with me. A seemingly meaningless conversation with a guy named Alan. Honestly one of the nicest dudes I have ever met (Weird cause one of the worst people I've every dealt with was also named Alan "it's Do-able") and I wish I could remember his last name so I could look him up and see how he is doing. Anyway he was talking about whether I would ever consider hanging an artwork I created up in my home. One of his goals was to hang his artwork up in his house and display it. At the time I really couldn't see myself ever being able to do it. I liked art, loved drawing and wanted to be a cartoonist but I was never proud of anything I did. After high school I gave up on art especially when troubled times came and I was really depressed but every time I drew something or created something I always thought about "Wold I ever hang something I created in my own home?". After a few years of practicing I think i can finally answer that question with a Yes. I'm by no means perfect and I am always improving but my latest drawing has made me feel quite proud of where I was with my art to where I am now. Here it is, My finished artwork of Olivia Cooke as Emma Decody in Bates Motel:
I will be getting prints made of this one and may even colour it like my Norman one I did over a year ago now. Who knows I may even hang a print in my room.

This is my blog and I do what I want but I will try and get back to the comedy from the Kanga Banga days eventually.

Sick art!

Been sick with a cold all week and I took the down time to start a new 2D piece. Over a year ago I did a Norman Bates painting which ended up getting put in a rad Bates Motel postcard book! Seeing as I enjoyed doing that piece a lot and have been enjoying the show even more now (That last season was fantastic!) I have decided on doing another Bates Motel piece. This time of Emma cause Emma rules! Not finished yet and I MUST do this 3D assignment so I will be continuing on it when this 3D one is done but for your enjoyment here is where the artwork is at.

The Life & Death of the Party

Last week I had an excellent time rocking out in Melbourne at the Alice Cooper & Mötley Crüe concerts and of course again in Sydney. Missed a week of class but it was worth it and then some! Alice Cooper's show is always stellar. Such a professional, amazing visuals he just needed a longer set!

On the other side I have never been more ready to give up on both full time study and the 3D art arena. After a week of relaxation and great times the world of art seems like such a chore. Just before I left Melbourne I was informed my Beagle/Raptor was not hyper-realistic enough :/
I think he is pretty sweet personally.

So yeah I have to completely re-do it somehow which I haven't started yet but it's due on Friday. The world of 3D seems so snobby and pretentious which is the opposite of me which is making it increasingly hard to get motivated to finish this degree which is only another 12 or so in-class weeks. Why must people take everything so seriously? 3D art isn't saving people's lives, it isn't important (Most jobs aren't). Where 3D is the best is when you create something you care about or accomplish something with a team you care about.

I really wish I studied something a little more stable or even more important at this point. A job or subject where there is a clear right and wrong. I love being creative but it seems the world we live in isn't looking for creative.

The story/quote that made me try and get into the animation world:
"The notion of my father dying screaming changed my life completely, because I was like even a good man in this world… You play the game, you play it straight, you play it by the rules, you do everything you’re supposed to, and you’re gonna die screaming anyway. And at that point I was like ‘there’s no point in not trying to accomplish every stupid, fuckin’ dream I’ve got."-Kevin Smith on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast

I don't know dudes and dudettes. The depression is multiplied thanks to the amazing week I had in Melbourne and all the great concert experiences in the last 7 days.

Here is some inspiration to do what makes you happy. Think about it! Joe is 100% correct in this.

Life is not about your job or working hard for someone else's dream a reality. It's about experiencing what you want, making yourself happy and chasing your dreams.

I'm such a downer I know but remember even when you are feeling down continue to Stay Frosty

Last minute everything!

Yeah I have a super amount of work to do in 2 days. Always leaving things to the very last minute.I would much rather be back in the world of Pro-Wrestling rather than the judgemental, ego driven world of art but have to wait a few more months for more wrestling.

Hey dreams are funny things and you have to do all this stupid rubbish to achieve them sometimes or you will be left wondering 'What If' and I don't want that but Motivation it is such an aggravation when it is stuff you really don't want to do. I tried 2 days ago to start this stupid hybrid character assignment and ended up drawing a picture of Louis Theroux instead. So here is that picture.

His latest three specials were great! Loved the mental institution ones. I really miss 'Weird Weekends'. Easily one of the best TV shows of all time. What a great concept! Yeah gotta get to work tomorrow.....or maybe the next day.

Tell 'Em Steve Dave! 3D project

First post of the year is here. You can breath your sigh of relief now because I have returned.

Everybody knows the best podcast in not only the world but the entire universe is Tell 'Em Steve Dave! So I have decided to create the TESD boys in 3D. I had to start off with the Staten Island Dandy, Brian Quinn. OH!
I have modelled a Q based off of the Rob Etch cartoons mixed with my own style.
Also added a Purple hoodie and the glorious facial hair for a more current look.
I haven't done any texturing or shader work yet (except the skin)

Because rigging isn't a strong point I have used 'Advanced Skeleton 4' auto rigging and have gotten a pretty awesome rig for the body set up. Once it is weight painted it will be a rocking rig.

The IJ classic Martian Hula hoop

I haven't quite got the Advanced Skeleton face rig working how I want it yet so may have to rig the face manually but here are some mess around faces.

I'm not sure if I want to get the face rig done or start modelling Bry, or Walt so instead of procrastinating I have also have started modelling the Table and Microphone also with no texture work done yet.

I really want to update this blog much more so hopefully it won't take me two months again.

YOHO
